Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is a Mexican American journalist. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN, working as anchor for SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. The first time she worked for ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of the television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is a native bilingual. Since she was nine years old, her ability to communicate in two languages led to her obtaining a job in Miami as a production assistant for Univision. In this role she was given the chance to be a part of national show producers such as Nuestra Belleza Latina. Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Following this it was announced that she was hired by the CBS affiliate in St. Petersburg employed her as a sports reporter. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as a news reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reports on her show covered immigration issues, drug trafficking, and other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. Also, she was the Spanish reporter for the newscast from 5 p.m. as well as anchor and reporter on the newscast from nine p.m. on English and also a Spanish reporter from 10 p.m. She would also fill in occasionally as a weather and sport anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallas' affiliate, where she is more responsible. She wrote pieces on sports like the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. The Univision 23 channel also produced her local sports program Accion Deportiva Extra, on where she was anchor. She also served as the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. The anchor also worked in similar roles on the magazine program of the network Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz, Mexico. They eventually settled in Mexico City and she was born on the 22nd of November, 1985. She is more mature than her younger sister. Her family relocated to Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. Her parents divorced soon after and, in the year 1995, she got married to a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. When on vacation Antonietta was staying at the house of her sister Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sibling had recently gotten an offer to work. Antonietta was a senior in high school but she was clear about the career she wanted to pursue. So while assessing if Mount Union would be a good fit for her, Antonietta decided to go visit the school. In the end she fell in love with the school. And they offered her an academic major. Following her graduation from her high school education, she chose to enroll at the university and major in Media Studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked for a number of years, was her friend. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her confidence and whose passion for journalism deeply touched her. She determined to meet his demands always delivering on time.
